Save Electrolux #3276AZ Whirl Pet Lover Vacuum

...though I haven't had many vacuums. This vacuum, as far as I can tell, has excellent suction that picks up all my pet hair (I have two long-haired Maine Coons) and the pet-paw attachment is fantastic for furniture, pillows, the cat tree, etc.

The "self cleaning" duster attachment, however, sucks; it's easier to clean the duster with the hose than with the special chamber they built for it. Also, the lever they installed to direct the suction to the duster-chamber broke off recently and I can't even superglue it back on because of the kind of plastic it's made of.

For the price I paid ($130 at Walmart), great vacuum though I suspect it won't last many years like a more quality one might.Get more detail about Electrolux #3276AZ Whirl Pet Lover Vacuum.

Discount Miele S4582 Eclipse Canister Vacuum Cleaner

I read a lot of reviews from other folks who had purchased Miele machines. Coming from a Hoover bagless with powerhead, I was worried about the extra cost of the Miele, the bags and the lack of powerhead. However, most of my vacuuming is hardwood or tile and what little is carpeted is not a worry. People remarked about the quality of the Miele motor and they were not kidding. Its very powerful and VERY quiet. I need to open the vent on hardwood, otherwise the head will suction to the floor. Its very light, moves easily, the cord retractor is quality and I like the "park" feature. All in all, this Vac is an investment in quality. Cheapest Factory-Reconditioned Electrolux EL 6989 Ultra Oxygen Canister Vacuum

After owning a "tank" Electrolux for almost 20 years, I chose this vacuum to replace it, after reading reviews. I have a yellow lab who sheds awful and this will do the job. My only complaint is that a couple of weeks ago the piece that "hooks" into the piece for the carpet would not make a connection..it is still in the repair shop. But, the repair person said he "tested" the suction and it was 99% and he had never seen one rate so high!Get more detail about Factory-Reconditioned Electrolux EL 6989 Ultra Oxygen Canister Vacuum.

Cheap Dirt Devil 082750 Vision Bagless Canister Vacuum Cleaner with Power Nozzle

I had looked forward to using this vacuum. However, it turned out to be a frustrating experience, because I could not remove the the power nozzle from the extension wand. Thus I was unable to use any of the other attachments. The phone consultant was of no help, and it was a long time before I received an email response.By that time, I had managed to cram the vacuum into its carton-difficult because I could not completely remove the power nozzle-and return it to Amazon. I have stopped payment on this product.Get more detail about Dirt Devil 082750 Vision Bagless Canister Vacuum Cleaner with Power Nozzle.

Buying Miele : S4210 Antares Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Mango Red

I must admit that I am a thorough researcher when it comes to household investments. When looking for a new vacuum cleaner, I literally spent days poring over reviews. What did I find? Most people HATE their vacuums, and some people find theirs to be OK. A depressing conclusion...

Then, I came across this Miele. Being fresh out of school, I was reluctant to spend this much money on a vacuum.

So, instead, I went across the street to a large department store and bought a popular brand model. It only took one vacuuming session to compare the two and run back to buy the Miele. It doesn't have many fancy features, but the Miele does it's basic job really, really well.

Another big factor for me was long-term satisfaction of other customers. Almost every review I have come across follows the pattern of "It was great while it worked, for the first 12 months..." As someone who is trying to live a relatively environmentally friendly life, this stand in contrast to everything I stand for. I was looking to buy a vacuum cleaner that would last me decades.

While I haven't owned this model long enough to be able to judge it on its long-term durability, Miele products in general score high marks in this category, and they contain a number of easily replaceable parts inside.

I hope that this is the last vacuum I ever bought!Get more detail about Miele : S4210 Antares Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Mango Red.

Purchase Bosch BBZ121HDUC Hard Floor Brush for the BSG Canister Vacuum Series

This floor brush is exactly what I was hoping for. It fits the vacuum perfectly and does the job required. Bosch SHOULD sell this with the vacuum itself. I don't care for the brush that ACTUALLY comes with the bosch vacuum, as it does not have the bristles and on my Mexican tile could cause sand to scratch the finish. Thank you for having this item for sale!!!Get more detail about Bosch BBZ121HDUC Hard Floor Brush for the BSG Canister Vacuum Series.

Order Bosch BSA2100UC Compact Plus Series Canister Vacuum, Midnight Blue

I bought this vacuum over a year ago and I have not been impressed. It flips over easily, blows air right at you (cannot re-direct air flow), doesn't pick up very well on hardwood floors and does not have a brush attachment for small areas. I also don't like the price of the bags! The "indicator" light for the bag replacement stopped working a few weeks after I got it. The one thing it has going for it is that it is very quiet. I would not recommend it.Get more detail about Bosch BSA2100UC Compact Plus Series Canister Vacuum, Midnight Blue.

Where To Buy Miele Delphi S2120 Canister Vacuum Cleaner

First of all let me state that this is my first Miele vacuum. I've not laid hands on a Sebo, Riccar, or Miele (except briefly in a store) before receiving the Miele Delphi. In the past I bought what was cheap and hoped for the best. Lately I've changed that philosophy and research everything diligently. Consider in my review that I don't have experience with premium vacuums prior to this one (and even though it's at the bottom end of the price range I think $500 is premium for a vacuum cleaner).

This vacuum replaces a Kenmore upright that lasted 10 years. We were never really satisfied with it though. It's performance was mediocre and it always had belt problems. The beater was driven from the main motor by means of a cheap idler pulley arrangement (so that it could be disengaged for bare floors) which was a weak point. Like many uprights it was heavy and fell over easily when using attachments. Our house is 50/50 bare floors and low carpets. It did poorly on bare floors, particularly the tile in our bathrooms.

We use a vacuum to clean all the floors, upholstery, for dusting, and cleaning out the cars.

After a lot of research I decided on these priorities:

* Sealed system. Why clean if the dust is shooting out all over everything as you go?
* True power brush. Even though we have low carpets it was pretty clear that the combo tool would not cut it. Nor was I impressed with the turbo brush at the store. It's very convenient to flip a switch and go from carpet to bare floors. I realize that there are specific brushes for bare floors, and we may get one eventually, but they seem very expensive for what you get.
* Quality construction. Means a lot for me and I'm willing to pay for it. I'm practically an expert appliance repairman from working on all the junk appliances we bought for our new house 10 years ago. First world construction AND assembly is not everything, but it goes a long ways.
* HEPA was not a necessity. We don't have dust allergies. The ability to upgrade is a nice plus, but for now I just don't think we need it.

So why did I choose the Delphi?

If you are confused about Miele's model selection join the club. To sum the it up (canisters only):

S2 series, larger bags, powered and non-powered hose models tools mount on base of hose.
S4 series, smaller bags, non-powered hose models only, tools mount of base of hose.
S5 series, larger bags (same as S2), premium line, powered and non-powered hose models, tools mount inside.

Differences within the lines largely involve attachment packages and the type of controls on the vacuum itself.

Models with a non-powered hose cannot use power accessories. You cannot add a powered hose later. There are no provisions to power it. You are stuck with the turbo (air powered) brush heads only. As I said earlier I was not satisfied with the performance of those. All the new models with powered hoses have direct connect. That means when you connect the attachment the power plug is attached as well. There are no extra wires to connect. Some older models required extra wires which I would find inconvenient if you just wanted to change over the dusting brush for a quick second.

So on to the Miele Delphi:

The item arrived well packaged with clear documentation and only reasonable assembly required (~3 minutes, no tools). There are separate manuals for the power head and vacuum.

The included power head is the SEB 217-3. It is about 10 1/2" wide with no light bar. It is a couple inches narrower than the power head on most vacuums. Miele has a larger one available that would work on this vacuum for around $250.00 (half the cost of the entire thing). Consider that the wider the power head the more your suction is dispersed. As the suction on the Miele is excellent I think it could certainly power a wider head just fine, but unless you have a very large home I think it would be unnecessary. Probably more important to that decision is the type of carpet. The 217-3 is designed for lower nap carpets. It has no height adjustment. I suspect it would be very hard to push on higher carpets. On high suction it can get tough to push on medium to low carpets, so consider that if you have deep carpeting. It does well on bare floors and I run it at the highest setting for this. You can actually see the dust being pulled under from a couple inches out front of the head.

The head has a swiveling attachment and as such it is very maneuverable. It also lays nearly flat, but not completely so, for getting under things. The head itself is very low profile so I can get under things I couldn't before. The wand appears of very high quality stainless and the plastic latches for extension and connection appear of similar high quality and function.

The so called "deluxe" handle has a single switch for the power head which is a necessary convenience. I would not consider one without this. A second switch to power the vacuum on and off would have been a nice addition, but it's not a necessity.

They claim the power hose is crush proof and strong enough to support the weight of the vacuum plus some but I have no reason to test it. The hose is free to swivel 360 degrees at the handle end but not at the vacuum end due to the connection for the power head. It doesn't swivel all that well and it may take me a little getting used to it, but like I said I've never used a canister. As I mentioned there is a separate plug on the base of the hose for the power head. The S5 models have a plug integral with the hose. You have to unplug it to open the bag chamber but that's not a big deal.

The vacuum itself has very strong suction. It's adjustable of course by means of a knob on the top of the body. I noticed some dust on the bottom of the vacuum so decided to vacuum it off and pulled the label right off the base as well! It is fairly quiet, but noticeably louder with the small attachments due to drawing the amount of air it is through such a small opening. The cord reel works well. It rides on 3 independent caster wheels and maneuvers very well. The small attachments mount to a bracket on the base of the hose. They stay there well enough but the bracket nor the attachments are awe inspiring. Then again, what do you expect.

The bag compartment door opens by a latch at the front of the vacuum body. The cover seems pretty flimsy when open so be careful with it in that position. It looks to be held in the open position only by plastic detents in the hinge. Plastic hinges are also used on the motor filter door, but considering that this only needs changing with every 4th or 5th bag shouldn't be subject to a lot of wear. The bag compartment holds a factory installed g/n bag with a hinged closure to prevent dust leakage. By the time you open the compartment it is already closed. Removal and replacement couldn't be easier. For all the talk of a sealed system this Miele relies on a tapered plastic to plastic joint to achieve it. I expected to see a rubber gasket of some type around the bag chamber but it's not to be found on the Delphi. I think the s5 models have one and this may be what is meant by their double seal. I don't have any way to test it, but it certainly seems air tight. I suppose the motor's suction makes it even tighter when it's running.

As I alluded to earlier, the Delphi comes with a thin, non HEPA, air filter. You can buy one any time you want to put in, but at $53.00 I wouldn't get it unless you really need it. The thin "super clean" air filters come included in each box of bags. I assume if you don't have a model that originally came with this thin filter you will need to locate a carrier to hold it as it is much thinner than the HEPA filter. Kudo's to Miele for making this an option. Ongoing operational costs are something to consider with any appliance.

In summary I'm pleased with the S2120 Delphi. It has exactly the features I was looking for and I was willing to pay the higher price over something like an Electrolux Oxygen 3 in consideration of Miele's excellent reputation. At it's heart you get the same motor and suction as the higher priced models. My main concern is the durability of the plastic door, in particular it's hinges. If they break your vacuum is useless. Perhaps my fear is unwarranted. My four star rating is what I consider excellent for a new product. For me five stars would need to include a consideration of reliability. It's always a gamble, but I think with a Miele a pretty safe bet.

Shop For Miele : S4210 Carina Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Melon Yellow

When the hose split in 2 places on my 14 year old Miele, I did no research because I wanted another Miele - I've recommended the brand to anyone listening. I wonder if this vacuum is now manufactured by a different company? The S4 Carina is not nearly as good as my original (S2481) - the cord is at least a foot shorter (a real nuisance); the suction is vague and just skims the carpet; the new head is fatter and does not go under my furniture and to switch settings, the tab is too stiff for my toe, so I must bend down to switch from floor to rug (I have area rugs so this is no good) - fortunately, I simply attached my original head (the new one is relegated to the back of the closet) - which slides under furniture and can be "adjusted by toe". (though the suction is of course, poor). Maneuverability is awkward.
I resent that I spent so much money because I trusted this brand. If your vacuuming needs are limited to a small floor-only area, and light-weight is important to you, then if the price is right, this vacuum is fine. Otherwise, keep shopping.Get more detail about Miele : S4210 Carina Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Melon Yellow.

Miele S5281 Callisto Galaxy Series Canister Vacuum Cleaner

I love this thing! I spent months shopping for a vacuum and reading reviews and this won even factoring in the price and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I've use an Oreck, I've used a Dyson, I've used Hoovers and in comparison this is heaven. The power head on the carpet attachment can be turned on and off independently which has kept me from killing things I run over many times. Even on the highest suction setting it only makes about half the noise of my old vacuum, it is so quiet I have no worries about disturbing my neighbors (I'm in a large apartment building). And possibly my favorite thing is that there are no longer things being thrown back at my feet, like the gravel they sand the roads with. I've had it for about 3 months and I've only gone through one bag so far even though I vacuum pretty often. Out of random curiosity I weighed it and the bag weighed 7.5 pounds, so they hold a lot and are not going to break. Get more detail about Miele S5281 Callisto Galaxy Series Canister Vacuum Cleaner.

Metropolitan Professionals ADM-4SF 11.25 Amp 4-Horsepower Canister Vacuum with Quadruple Hepa Filtration Top Quality

I bought this vacuum after quite a bit of research. I've had several vacuums over my lifetime and all have lasted for several years. One of the reasons I bought this particular vacuum is that it is made in USA. I've bought a lot of tools which were made overseas and they don't last at all. This is a very powerful easy to manuever vacuum and it lives up to all my expectations except for one thing. The cord is very thin and cheesy. I would think a vacuum of this quality would come with a better cord. Although it seems plenty long enough, it's made of a thin vinyl material. Otherwise, I would highly recomend this vacuum.Get more detail about Metropolitan Professionals ADM-4SF 11.25 Amp 4-Horsepower Canister Vacuum with Quadruple Hepa Filtration.

Miele S5981 Capricorn W 236 Delux Power Nozzle This instant

Through 36 years of marriage, we have owned a number of vacuum cleaners, both canister and upright. There have been two Kenmore's, an Electrolux Silverado, and a Hoover Wind Tunnel. Both Kenmores were damaged by friends to whom I loaned the vacuums, and the Electrolux by the one cleaning lady I engaged who used it to vacuum water. I have simply hated the Wind Tunnel which is awkward, heavy, and requires repeated belt changes. Further, as I approach the "new 40," I am discovering my lower back does not handle using an upright vacuum as painlessly as it formerly did. For the past two years, I have researched and read in an attempt to find a canister vacuum which I might actually like.

After reading the reviews on Amazon, I decided the Miele Callisto was the right machine for me. I wasn't thrilled about spending so much on a vacuum cleaner, but the reviews on lower priced brands were not positive. I had saved some "mad money" over the years and, because I couldn't justify using household funds for a want which was not really a need, I dug into those.

I like to see an item which is this expensive before I purchase it and found three local Miele dealers. I visited the closest to my home; the salesman there told me I didn't want the Callisto but did want the Capricorn because it had rubberized paint which would not damage my furniture. He never asked about what types of floors on which I would be using the vacuum or about the composition of our household. I called the second dealer who proceeded to put the phone down, leaving me listening while he talked with someone in the store - I hung up after patiently waiting for 5 minutes. The third dealer was 25 miles from our home, but was the type of retailer one expects to find handling this expensive machine.

After learning our floors are half plush carpet and half tile or hardwood, the salesman suggested I look at the Capricorn. The head on the Callisto was not a powered unit, and he said I would feel like I was pushing a Mack truck across the floor. The separate SEB236 head costs over $200, which would bring the Callisto's cost in line with the Capricorn. Further, there are some features on the Capricorn that were nice to have, so I settled on that model. Because the price of Miele's is the same at all authorized dealers, whether internet or local, we decided to purchase locally from this store.

At this point, I am glad I purchased the Miele Capricorn. It seems to be well made; even the SEB236 power head feels sturdy. The unit is relatively light, extremely maneuverable, and seems to have significant suction power. The wheels on this canister swivel, unlike older canister vacuums. In my opinion, this makes the unit equivalent in maneuverability to a Dyson. Further, the user bangs into corners and gets caught on furniture far less often than happened when using older canister vacuums. The power head can be laid almost flat and allows one to actually vacuum under chairs and tables without having to move them. All the floor utensils have a swivel-joint feature which enables one to get into tight spots simply by turning the wrist and swiveling the attachment. This is a great feature as I can get close to the baseboards and will no longer have to "redust" with a Swiffer as I had to when using the hard floor attachment on the Wind Tunnel. The bags and filters are easy to change and require no struggle as the Wind Tunnel bags did to install. I had no discomfort in my lower back after vacuuming the entire house using the Miele; the ability to extend the length of the wand which attaches to the various heads is significant in that one can find the length which provides the most comfortable range for the individual user. My only complaint is that the cord is a bit shorter than I'm used to, requiring me to have to switch plugs six times instead of my usual three. However, I suspect that making it longer would have required a larger canister and would have had an impact on the unit's size and maneuverability, so I'd rather switch plugs than sacrifice agility.

And yes, the Miele Capricorn S5981 is the quietest vacuum you never heard. Unlike the times I was using my Hoover Wind Tunnel, I can actually hear the telephone ring when I'm using my Miele. I no longer feel like my hearing is being severely compromised or that I might be missing an important call. The unit isn't silent, but it is far quieter than any other vacuum I've used.

If you have the money to spend on an expensive vacuum, I highly recommend the Miele Capricorn S5981 with the SEB236 power head.

Miele S2120 Delphi Canister Vacuum - Lotus White Immediately

I got this vacuum for Christmas (yes, I know. But in hubby's defense I actually asked for a new vacuum for Christmas). He did TONS of research to identify a canister vac that met my needs: had to use bags, had to be light and good with pet hair. By getting this as a gift cost wasn't as much of a concern as it was kind of a treat, and let me tell you--this is totally worth the cost. It's super light, super quiet, and super effective. I can vacuum while having a conversation, that's how quiet it is. And you can easily take it up and down the stairs. It has a handy little hook that allows you to connect the hose and bar to the canister so that you can carry it all with one hand.

It is so easy to take this vacuum out that I find myself cleaning more frequently than I did before. And its multi-level suction capability makes it perfect for everything from light cleaning of curtains to heavy-duty cleaning of high-traffic carpets. And the unexpected benefit that I love the most: you don't change the attachment when you switch from hard floors to carpet; the same head unit is used for both. I never thought about it, but just pushing a button when I switch rooms rather than having to disconnect and reconnect attachments is a HUGE timesaver. I love this vacuum!Get more detail about Miele S2120 Delphi Canister Vacuum - Lotus White.

Bissell 7700 Big Green Complete Home-Cleaning System Best Quality

I highly recommend that you do not purchase this machine. I did a lot of research before I bought it. It is a huge disappointment. It is cheaply made, leaks and has no cleaning power. I wanted to clean a 12 x 12 area of carpet and it can't even successfully do that. I tried calling Bissell's help line and could not understand 3 of the 4 people I was asked to speak with for help. They were of no help and suggested i take the machine to a repair store which is at least 45 minutes from me. I purchased it through Amazon and ended up getting it from [...] who now tell me that I can not return it for any reason. This machine is pure junk.......I wish I had purchased a cheap machine at Walmart as I could not be more unhappy with one of those no matter how badly they performed. This machine is now selling for $45 less on Amazon than we paid for it. Maybe [...] will be more helpful when they respond but I will never buy from a store which has no phone number again. Save yourself a lot of headaches and DO NOT buy this machine.Get more detail about Bissell 7700 Big Green Complete Home-Cleaning System.

Shark 15.6V Cordless Hand Vac - SV736k Get it now!

I really like this vacuum. It keeps its charge and is pretty powerful. I was completely happy with this purchase until I needed a replacement filter. After looking on several websites for a replacement filter (it is really difficult to find a filter for this model), I finally purchased one from the Shark/Eurp-pro website. This website looks and functions like it was created by a preschooler. After ordering and receiving our filters that were recommended on their site for our vacuum, I discovered that the filters (again, recommended on their site) did not fit our vacuum. I proceed to call the "customer service" department about how to process our return. After 15 minutes of listening to a recorded message tell me "my wait time is approximately 8 minutes", I finally got to talk to a live person. I explained my situation about how I ordered these filters and got the wrong ones. I wanted to know how to return them, get my money back, not have to pay shipping since it wasn't my fault, and order the correct ones. The guy on the other end proceed to tell me that I ordered the wrong ones and was responsible for paying the shipping to return the product. Um, I DON'T THINK SO! After asking to speak to a supervisor, this guy tells me that the supervisor would not give me a different answer. I pushed harder and said I will wait to speak to a supervisor. The guy comes back on the line after a few minutes and tells me that his supervisor has given him permission to refund my total, and I could just throw those other filters away. This, of course, is to keep up with good customer service practices, I was told. Then he asks if there is anything else he could help me with. I said that he could walk me through the website on how to order the correct filters. I believe he pretended not to hear me and told me to have a nice day. 35 minutes later and still no filters. Then I try the online chat the website. After telling me that I'm supposed to look up the model number without the last letter, so instead of SV736K, use SV736 (instructions that would be useful on their website), I was able to see all the parts associated with this vacuum. They did have a filter listed in the parts, but it was the filter I had already purchased and I knew didn't fit this model. Here is a copy of part of the chat conversation I had with the customer service rep, who actually helped me.

you: This filter number is XSB726N, which is one I just ordered and received. This filter does not fit SV736K.
Terry: XSB726N is for another model.
you: That is the filter listed for SV736
Terry: XSF736 is what you need for your unit. Apparently there is a mistake on the website because the one listed is doe SV738.
you: Thank you. I was just told that ordering this item was my error and given a difficult time getting my money back. Please tell me how to order the correct filter online. Is that possible?

All along it was Sharks fault and they tried to say it was my error. A total of an hour later I am hoping new and correct filters will be mailed to me. I will never buy another product from this company, and I recommend you think long and hard about a Shark purchase.

If anyone from this company is reading this, please get a professional to revamp your website (in fact call me) and teach your people what CUSTOMER SERVICE means.Get more detail about Shark 15.6V Cordless Hand Vac - SV736k.

Hoover S3755 Bagless WindTunnel Canister Buy Now

We purchased our Hoover wind tunnel vacuum about two years ago when we needed something compact enough to carry around in our class 'C' motor home. We were happy with the size and thrilled with the way this little jewel performed. The telescopic wand made it perfect for storing in one of our limited closet spaces and the adjustable power selections on the suction intake make it ideal for many various cleaning tasks.

We found another reason to rave about this little vacuum as well. We live in Maine and about a year ago we had a wood pellet insert stove installed in our home. For those of you who don't know, there's a lot of fly ash and soot that builds up in and around the fire box and baffles and they have to be thoroughly cleaned every 8-10 days to keep them working efficiently. What I do is shut down the stove, empty the ash pan, and wait for it to cool down for a couple of hours. Then I attach a small flexible shop vac hose to the end of the regular Hoover hose and I proceed to thoroughly clean the entire stove. As soon as I am done I take the canister out of the vacuum, dump the contents into an ash can, and then I proceed to thoroughly wash the canister and filter with warm soapy water. This procedure allows me to get the stove back up and running in very short order. I wouldn't dare take a chance of cleaning the stove with a regular vacuum cleaner unless the stove had been idle for hours and I was completely confident there was no chance of a hot ember igniting a fire within the vacuums filter or canister. Where this unit is bagless, easily disassembled and cleaned with water, I find it to be a safe and simple tool to use for this purpose. We've washed the filter somewhere in the vicinity of 20-25 times now and it appears as good, and works as good, as the day we bought it!

Oh, by the way, we stepped up to a class 'A' motor home this past summer with plenty of interior and undercarriage storage but I can assure you we have no intentions of upgrading our Hoover!Get more detail about Hoover S3755 Bagless WindTunnel Canister.

Miele S2180 Titan Canister Vacuum - Chili Red Decide Now

Miele is a family-owned German manufacturer of home appliances. The company's philosophy of continuous improvement ("Immer Besser") has made them a favorite throughout the world. Their products don't have bargain prices, but provide value in high quality design and manufacturing that results in superior performance and durability. Miele was founded in 1899 and began producing vacuum cleaners in 1927; their vacuums have become favorites of professionals worldwide, including many top-end hotel staffs.

The Miele S2 line of canister vacuums is new for 2009, offering the quality and many of Miele's standard features at a lower price. There are three S2 models, all sharing the same 1200-watt base vacuum. The canister has six power settings and a standard air filter that catches 94% of particles down to 0.3 microns. The Olympus model is the lowest priced of the three, and features a floor/carpet combo head (SBD350-3), non-electric hose and a telescoping wand. The Delphi model substitutes a power head (SEB217-3), electric hose (SES116) and electric telescoping wand (SET220). The Titan model retains the power components of the Delphi and adds a parquet floor brush (SBB-3) and active HEPA filter.

Note that all three models can support the power hose and brush, but only the Delphi and Titan include it as part of the package. Similarly, all three models support the active HEPA filter, but only the Titan includes it in its package. If you don't currently need a power head you can buy the Olympus and add the power components later; you'll pay more in the end, but you won't have to buy power components now that you may not need for a few years. The non-electric combo head works well on smooth flooring, is usable on short-pile carpet, and is difficult to use on deeper-pile carpet.

Like all Miele vacuum cleaners, the S2 is well designed and manufactured in Germany. The vacuum has a range of 29.5 feet from the end of the self-retracting power cord to the tip of the brush. The unit is light (under 10 lbs), nicely balanced and moves easily in any direction on its casters. The top-exhaust design allows you to vacuum easily with the canister standing up, such as on steps. The motor is surprisingly quiet, particularly at the lower power levels. The six power levels allow you to switch from floors and carpets to shelves and tabletops without accidentally grabbing objects or papers instead of dirt or dust.

The S2 cleans very well and is a pleasure to use. The base has notches in which the hose can be parked, one for when the base is on its wheels, one for when the base is standing. This is a great touch, useful for temporarily standing the hose while you move a piece of furniture, and helpful for storing the vacuum in a closet without breaking down the hose and wand. Perhaps the only weakness of the S2 is the "varioclip" for tool storage, which rides somewhat uncomfortably on the hose rather than more naturally on the base. Changing the filter and bag are each a snap, and an indicator tells you when the bag is full.

Finally, what compromises does the S2 line make from the more expensive S4 and S5 lines? The most obvious changes are to external components: a few parts, such as the bumper strip that surrounds the canister, are made from hard plastic rather than softer rubber. The operating radius is a few feet shorter (due to a shorter power cord), and the accessory brushes use some lower-cost materials (nylon versus natural bristle brush, plastic instead of metal). Inside, the S2 canister uses Miele's "CleanAir System" construction, while the S4 and S5 canister use its "Sealed System." Miele doesn't offer a detailed comparison of the two, but one might assume the latter system provides an extra measure of dust capture that may be more appropriate for those with allergic sensitivities.

The changes made to lower the price of the S2 line will make small differences in daily use, but shouldn't compromise the vacuum's core ability to clean. Those who are especially sensitive to dust should consider the HEPA-equipped Titan model, or stepping up to the S4 or S5; those with less stringent needs will find the S2 a terrific entry point to the Miele line of high quality vacuums. If budget is no issue, look at the S5 line, but if value-per-dollar is a major consideration, the S2 line will bring you Miele's engineering and manufacturing prowess at a more affordable price. Dyson Titanium Level 3 Root Cyclone Vacuum Right now

Instead of writing a long paragraph, I'll just jump to the pros and cons

Pros:
- Amazing suction: The amount of dirt and lint it sucks is incredible. Compared to my old hoover where I had to go over the carpet few times to suck out all the dirt, the DC23 is so powerful, I only have to run over the carpet once or twice and the carpet is clean. This is primarily due to the strong suction but also to the very powerful brush.
- I have very expensive and old rugs with tassels. When the motorized brush runs over the tassels, the brush shuts off. My old hoover vacuum would either gets intangled with the tassels or the rubber band connected to the motor would snap.
- It has a telescopic rod. When fully contracted, the DC23 is ideal for cleaning steps.

cons:
- VERY BIG WEAKNESS: The motorhead is so strong (a plus as I described above), it sucks in my delicate and fine rugs. Not only it sucks it in, but it's also stripping some of the threading from the 100 year old rugs. I wish Dyson had put a level to control the rotator head instead of just providing an on/off switch.
- Again, because of the strong suction, I'm having to empty the canister 3 or 4 types every time I vacuum my whole house, 2300sf. This is pretty minor actually but it was worth noting because my wife was complaining about it. I didn't seem to mind or care about having to empty out the canister frequently.

Low Price Shark 7.2V Cordless Hand Vac - SV772

Really researched this purchase. So many hand vacs are now too heavy. I only use mine for small tasks, crumbs, ashes, dog hair and such---for quick clean up. Very good suction and stays charged for a long time. Others are probably very good with brushes and all, for a more thorough cleaning. I wanted small and light weight, this fits the bill.Get more detail about Shark 7.2V Cordless Hand Vac - SV772.

Save Dyson DC23 TurbineHead Canister Vacuum

I just took the Dyson vacuum cleaner on its maiden trip. And I am very impressed. I grew up with canister cleaners, and have long wanted one again. Never liked those uprights, heavy and hard to get in under furniture etc. The Dyson is easy to handle, cleans really well. A detail, perhaps, but I appreciate that the additional tools (furniture brush etc) are securely fastened. On my old machines they constantly fell off.
This almost made vacuuming fun. One possible downside - the canister seems perhaps a little on the small side. It didn't take long for me to fill it up - unless, of course, that is more a statement of what my place looked like before I brought the Dyson home. If it keeps it up - it's surely a five-star!Get more detail about Dyson DC23 TurbineHead Canister Vacuum.

Discount Electrolux EL6985B Harmony Ultra Quiet Canister Vacuum

The hardwood floor attachment has a pair of felt strips on the bottom along the intake. One of them fell off within a month and the other one fell off within a year. As a result, the attachment doesn't perform as well and it scratches the floor. We called support to get replacement strips (we were even willing to pay for them) and were told we had to buy a new attachment which costs over $100 and they refused to budge or offer any alternate solutions.

Also, the attachment holder doesn't stay on the wand or hold the pieces very well. As a result, I'm constantly running around the house trying to find pieces when I need them.

Finally, the cord retractor has weakened over time and doesn't work as well - we've only owned it for a little over a year.

Other than that, it performs reasonably well, but don't gamble your money on a flimsy product the manufacturer won't stand behind.Get more detail about Electrolux EL6985B Harmony Ultra Quiet Canister Vacuum.

Cheap Hoover S3590 Duros Power Nozzle Canister Vacuum

We have three cats and a dog and hardwood floors. The vacuum lacks the power to pick up anything reliably on the first pass. I have to constantly stop and vacuum off the floor head as only about half the pet hair it picks up actually gets to the vacuum bag. To get anything against the mopboards, remove the head.

On carpet, it's quiet and leaves so much behind that it's essentially cleaning for looks only. It's simply incapable of removing anything but surface dirt, and that it does poorly.

The cord is far too short; a 25-foot hallway is beyond its reach. The tool holder is on the suction tube, making it impossible to vacuum under the bed or behind the refrigerator. The tools constantly fall off the tool holder, and the crevice tool is inexplicably in the vacuum itself.

Even the "bag full" indicator is counter-intuitive. When the red bar is halfway across, the bag is full and power drops exponentially.

This product certainly warrants a zero-star rating. It's likely to be the last Hoover product I buy.Get more detail about Hoover S3590 Duros Power Nozzle Canister Vacuum.

Finally, a canister that does what I want it to do. I am so thrilled and we are currently already saving money for the next one we will buy in a couple of years, we will upgrade to the next higher model. But this is a great item. Very flexible, good suction, no smell, no mess to clean up (unlike bagless ones), I highly recommend thisGet more detail about Miele S2120 Olympus Canister Vacuum - Lotus White (Pre-Order for 12/15).

Purchase Eureka 972B Compact Canister Vacuum, Yellow

Canister vacuum cleaners come in the $49 to the $600 range. Some reviewers fault this machine for not working as well as machines in the several hundred dollar range, while it would be more apt to compare this machine to ones in the $49 range.

I purchased this to replace a Eureka Rally from several decades ago. That machine served me well, and probably could have been fixed with moderate effort, but it hardly seemed worth it given the price of this replacement. My old machine was larger, louder, and a bit less powerful. It was slightly more expensive than this replacement, even without factoring in inflation. I had a good idea of what I needed. The next task was figuring out where on the price spectrum an appropriate replacement would lie. I was at first skeptical that something at the low range would suit my needs, but I'm glad I got this.

My old machine gave me an idea of what features to look for. That one lacked automatic cord rewind, had a hose that was about 2 feet shorter, had attachments similar to Attachment Kit plus an additional larger floor brush, and on board storage for the upholstery nozzle, dusting brush and crevice tool. The 972B is smaller, quieter, more powerful, has a cord rewind, but lacks most of the tools and on board storage for the general ones. Nonetheless, it was a good deal considering that I could use my old attachments. Plus, this one has a slightly longer hose, and the extension rod is a metal telescoping one instead of fixed length plastic ones.

I was impressed by how much suction I got from a machine so small and (relatively) quiet. I was able to do a good job vacuuming cat hair off of draperies. It was from a section hidden behind a couch where years of contact made it as formidable a task as cat hair could present. I found that it did a good overall job on bare floors, carpeted stairs, moldings (its on board mini crevice tool and brush were ideal for this) as well as other hard to reach areas such as carpet/baseboard junctions.

I have three upright vacuum cleaners and do not expect to use this one for general carpet cleaning. It can do the task, but this machine is better suited as a supplementary machine than for your primary carpet cleaner. It would take too many passes, especially for a very large room. For its intended purpose, and even touch up carpet cleaning, runners, and hallway areas this machine is well suited. In cases when you need pure suction rather than rotating brushes, this is an excellent machine.

If it came with all the attachments I use regularly, I would give it five stars. However, for the price I paid, that's probably not a reasonable expectation. Neither is on board storage if you want a machine so compact. Even if I can't fault the machine for it, you might want to consider whether a more expensive machine with more attachments is a better solution than buying this one and getting other attachments separately. You might still consider this one a good deal, given that the attachments I use regularly are just a few dollars each directly from the manufacturer. The included multi-purpose tool might be all you need for the tasks that floor attachments could fill, but not if those tasks would be your main reason for purchasing this. As a supplementary machine, this is ideal for me.Get more detail about Eureka 972B Compact Canister Vacuum, Yellow.

Where To Buy Hoover S1361 Portable Canister Vacuum

This is a great little vacuum cleaner -- easy to handle -- suction is excellent!! Shop For Electrolux EL6988D Oxygen3 Canister Vacuum Cleaner

I've had the Oxygen for about 4 years now. I spent a lot of time researching before making the purchase, and thought I'd made a great choice. We have all hardwood floors and two area rugs. Within the first few months the tool caddy broke off so I never really used any of the attachments. The power head for carpet is great and I felt it was doing a nice job of cleaning the carpets...however, just as the warranty expired, within weeks it seemed, the power head stopped working. I took it to a local repair shop and the connectors in the wand had blown (melted plastic, as other reviewers noted.) It cost around $110 to replace this part. The hardwood floor brush is just OK, it almost seemed like it was for a different vacuum...I found it kept falling off in the beginning and was a bit awkward to use. Anyway, long story short, the power head has stopped working again. This time I was told it's the electric hose...another $90. I'm on the fence between ditching the vacuum completely and purchasing something new like the Panasonic MC-CG885....or spending the money and hoping I get another couple of years out of the Oxygen. Hmmmmm. It is pretty good when it works, but beware of costly repairs. The guy at the vacuum shop said Electrolux are some of the worst vacuums, they are basically designed to break...fatally flawed... Somehow the pretty design and featured wooed me 4 years ago. Electrolux EL 7055B Twin Clean Bagless Canister Vacuum

I was pleasantly surprised at this vacuum! Ease of use is the first thing that I'd have to say, plus I love the feature of extending the wand when vacuuming, I am tall, and hate having to stoop over with other vacuums, it make this the most comfortable vacuum I've ever used! Also great for reaching high places when you have the attachments in use.

The cleaning overall was superior, great suction, I just finished cleaning the carpets with my nearly brand new Hoover and was amazed at how much more this Electrolux picked up!

This vacuum is also amazingly quiet, my big old yellow lab nearly looses his doggie mind when I start up the vacuum, but this one is so quiet that he only walked over to sniff it out, then went back to living his sleepy dog's life!

Would absolutely recommend! Get more detail about Electrolux EL 7055B Twin Clean Bagless Canister Vacuum.

Panasonic MC-CG467 Multi-Surface Lightweight Canister Vacuum Cleaner, Light Blue Review

There are basically two types of vacuum cleaners: upright and canister, and according to the Consumer Reports magazine, upright works better for cleaning carpeted floor while canister for hardwood floor. I see the Panasonic's effort to combine two together adding the agitator in the head, but it was a terrible idea. In fact, the multi-surface brush doesn't clean well for any types of surfaces: on carpeted floor the suction power is not enough and on hardwood floor the agitator spreads small pieces on the floor instead of sucking them. In addition, the bulky head makes ugly black scratch marks all over from the baseboard moldings to linoleum. To make more matters worse, the head was completely cut off from the hose today after only a year usage, which indicates its cheap quality. I had to drag out my old half-broken Mighty Mites vacuum cleaner to clean my house instead and found out great joy to use the vacuum cleaner which simply sucks instead of spreading small pieces. Electrolux EL6984A UltraSilencer Green Canister Vacuum Cleaner Top Quality

I also grew up with Electrolux and always wanted one as good and as dependable as that medal cannister that we used to drag around the house. It seemed as if I spend a lot of money on big, bulky, heavy vacuums that even with hepa filters and self propelling are just a lot to use. I have used a cleaning service for years now and do not own a vacuum cleaner anymore. Just a large commercial one for the large bird cages. In the spirit of the recession I thought I could do my own cleaning. What will I need? A vacuum cleaner.

I have stone floors and wood floors with oriental carpets and kilims - which are flat weave carpets. My house is also two stories with a flight of stairs about 20 feet up.

I also have a lot of birds and 2 puppies. So, I saw this vacuum. 14 lbs is easy to carry with that compact size and great handle. Going green makes me feel good, too. I used it today. Wow. The adjustible suction and noise control, light weight, adjustible heights and swivel everything - I could not believe how easy it was to use. It picked up everything and I could easily go off the carpet onto stone or wood just by pushing the suction adjustment with my finger. The edge of the carpets did not get picked up in the suction moving off to the floor and it did not grab the threads on the edges, either.

Under cabinets, beds, chairs, flat up against the side of the wall without scratching. Picked up bird seeds, hair, and a little dry puppy poo I missed on a carpet. The variable noise control is a great idea around little animals. My little pups tried to play with it.

Just perfect. Thanks.Get more detail about Electrolux EL6984A UltraSilencer Green Canister Vacuum Cleaner.

Hoover S3865 Platinum Cyclonic Bagless Canister Vacuum Cleaner with Power Nozzle This instant

I spent so much time researching a good canister vacuum cleaner purchase that I decided to write. The other two reviews were very helpful so I wanted to give something back. Because I saw how much can cost a set of bags for some vacuums, I decided to look for a bagless canister vacuum. I have more wood floor that carpet. Please understand this review covers just the first week. Since the machine just arrived. I like that is bagless, and the fact that the cylinder is transparent, you can see how much dirty sucks up from the floor! Easy to take off the dust. Strong handgrip features electronic control buttons for power on and off, variable suction.Tools are easily attached to the telescoping wand made in metal. Not very noisy. I little heavy, but it gives you a feeling that it is more well made with strong material.Get more detail about Hoover S3865 Platinum Cyclonic Bagless Canister Vacuum Cleaner with Power Nozzle.

Bissell 7340 Flip-It Select Hard Floor Cleaner with Heat Immediately

Pros:
specifically for bare floors
is supposed to vacuum and heat mop

Cons:

Very small capacity (I have a 1400 sq ft home that is tile with area rugs and I empty this vacuum an average of three times if I do the entire home).

The Liquid spray option never has worked, so I cannot use the wet option at all.

Filter gets filthy very often (mind you I have two preschool children and an enormous golden retriever).

Faulty design (my machine sends all the debris up into the filter and not into the canister- this is why the filter is always needing washing and I must empty multiple times to maintain suction).

This machine may still work well for some people out there, and I do use it from time to time just as a bare floor vacuum. I may get it repaired so the mop function will work but for the cost I am thinking of just getting a more heavy duty bare floors vacuum and a swiffer wet jet- I know that that will work. I was really looking forward to a vacuum and mop combo, but this model is not a good match for my household. Maybe we just supply too much mess for this little machine. Panasonic MC-CG885 OptiFlow Lightweight Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner Get it now!

What is good about it:

~Great suction--picked up much better than my old vacuum
~Variable height control adjusts well to different carpets
~Quiet
~Very easy to assemble and to switch attachments
~I like the on/off switch on the handle
~Lightweight--easy to carry & use
~Headlight
~Retractable LONG cord
~(FYI: hose is 6'--some sites claim it is 8')
~Body seems sturdy
~Bags easy to change

What I don't like about it:

~The metal tubes that connect the head to the hose are not adjustable, so one height fits all. I am 5'8" so a bit longer would be nice. But it's not terribly short--I just wish it adjusted.
~The head has rubber around it and the body has rubber in the front only--I wish the body had a rubber bumper all the way around.
~The plastic of the head & handle does seem a bit flimsy--but it may just be that it is a lighter weight plastic that what I am used to so that it feels flimsy but it actually is sturdy. Certainly the lighter weight is nice when vacuuming.
~The carpet height adjuster is a plastic lever you operate with your foot on the head. I fear it may break off it not used carefully.
~The brush attachment is quite small with short bristles. Again, not terrible, but a bit larger with longer bristles would have been better. The good news is the attachment from my old vac fit this one, so I'm going to keep them. (If you haven't thrown your old vacuum out already, save the attachments!)Get more detail about Panasonic MC-CG885 OptiFlow Lightweight Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner.

Electrolux EL5020A Intensity Upright Vacuum Cleaner Decide Now

in general I found this product live up to my expectation given its price. It's not super quiet but tolerable, much better than the up-right vacuums worth $30-60 I've used before. Navigation with this product is a bit difficult on wooden floors, because the machine is heavy and the wheels feel a bit stuck.

I returned the product mainly because the off button is not reliable. I opened the box and the second time I tried it, the off button won't work and I have to unplug the machine. I encountered the same problem again the next day and decided to return it. But the seller is very good at dealing with the return. Essentially I called Electrolux to get an incidence number and then give the number to CPO and they processed the return immediately. Then I just print out the return label and drop it off at a FedEX.Get more detail about Electrolux EL5020A Intensity Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

Lowest Price All New Miele S4212 Neptune Canister Vacuum Cleaner With STB 205-3 Turbo Tool

I purchased this vacuum for my wife whose older vacuum was starting to fall apart. My first source was consumer reports, and after researching their top rated canisters I was dismayed to see some of the negative comments by other reviewers. While these top rated models performed well, my other concern was quality and durability - something which consumer reports doesn't really focus on. If I am going to spend good money on a vacuum, I'd rather avoid anything made in China. The problem with the hoovers and Kenmoores are they use Chinese motors and components. There were too many reviews about the potential problems with cheap motors, and the fact that too many people complained about the cheap flimsy feel and the heavy weight.

I decided to go with the Miele Neptune with Turbo tool based on the reviews here and I was not disappointed! While the body is made of plastic, it is of high quality. The knobs, button and trim are like that of an Audi automobile. The main tube is made of metal, while the flexible portion is plastic. I can't really tell what the longevity of the plastic of these parts will be - but I am assuming they will be better than than the numerous complaints of flimsy and easy to break parts of the Kenmores and Hoovers.

Turning on the vacuum is like starting a jet engine. A nice gentle whine, and when fully revved it's remarkably quiet. Again, big advantage verses the mainstream models. A powerful 1200 watt motor and light weight makes this easy to use and effective at all the applications I've used it for - mainly hardwood and carpet. The turbo tool uses air to drive the brush and it has done a great job (just need to cut the hair that it collects from time time to time) especially on carpet, and works/sounds just like an electric powered model.

All in all - a top quality product, excellent performance makes this a vacuum of choice. Plus it's made in Germany by a company that's been around for over 100 years. I personally rather avoid purchasing Chinese made products with lots of moving parts intended for long term use.

Low Price Eureka 3670 Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum

We purchased our first Mighty Mite vacuum over 20 years ago. It continued to perform throughout our recent household remodel. Since we have had it so long we thought we'd use it to do the daily clean up of saw dust, drywall dust, nails and everything that was left laying around until it stopped working and then just find a new vacuum. The remodel lasted 4 months and our mighty mite just kept going. We decided that if this vacuum could take all of that abuse after 20 years, it's a vacuum we'd want to keep using, so we decided to see if we could find a new mighty mite, and we did on Amazon. We ordered it and it is working just as good as the old one when it was new. Cheapest Hoover S1120 Hand Held Wet/Dry Hand Vacuum Cleaner

At first I hated this thing because the unit was not clicking into the charger all the way (this I didn't know) and it would run for about 10 seconds and quit. I had it mounted behind the fridge (don't ask why) and it was a reach, to say the least. So I'm not sure if it was the design of the charger or the awkward location I put it in, causing the charging problem. Suffice it to say I would have liked an LED indicator light to let me know if it was charging. Other than that, it works well and I'm happy with it.Get more detail about Hoover S1120 Hand Held Wet/Dry Hand Vacuum Cleaner.

Cheap Dirt Devil 082500 Breeze Bagless Canister Vacuum

There are many good things about this vacuum: the price is right, it IS very light and it picks up well. I have hardwood floors and 2 cats and it works very well getting rid of all their hair. The noise is pretty horrendous, but I can live with that (even if they can't!) but there are a few areas where Dirt Devil have skimped on design where they, in my opinion, shouldn't have.
Firstly it just feels cheap: the way all the sections of the handle & head fit together is not tight enough so you lose suction. The sections of the handle have a button that slots into a hole on the next section so they're sturdy and tight-ish, but the actual head just fits on loosely so it does, on occasion, fall off when you're vacuuming, but mostly you lose alot of suction here.
Secondly there's a small plastic arm that you can push out to wrap the cord around for storage. It's such a bad design. I've not had the vacuum for very long, but I would put money on this arm not lasting more than 6 months. I'd rather they add a little weight to the machine and had cord storage inside. This also means that when in use you have to unleash all the cord and carry it around so it doesn't get in the way. It's just annoying.
Lastly, I have to take the head off the hoover several times during each use to remove the hair from the brushes and get it into the hoover. My apartment isn't that big but with the cats there's more hair than your average household, however I can't help thinking that if they solved some of the issues with loss of suction I wouldn't have to do this so often.
All in all, it's a decent hoover for hardwood floors, but it feels like a temporary investment that will last a year, maybe slightly longer and then I'll get a different one.Get more detail about Dirt Devil 082500 Breeze Bagless Canister Vacuum.

Buy Miele All New S4212 Polaris Canister Vacuum Cleaner

I bought this vacuum after reading the reviews on Amazon and have been pleased with it to date. It is definitely infinitely more quiet than my old Hoover and seems to have good pickup. It's also very light and easy to maneuver. My only criticism is that the attachments can't be stored inside of the vacuum but instead click into a rack that attaches to the outside. It invariably falls off as I am vacuuming. My mom's ancient Miele has the "inside storage" feature and it's awesome. Maybe that comes with the more expensive models?Get more detail about Miele All New S4212 Polaris Canister Vacuum Cleaner.
