We bought this Vacuum in 2006, yes, it is almost 4 years old, but after the first 2 years, the on/off switch broke, and now after another year the motor blew. The vacuum is dead. You will read a lot of reviews that say the vacuum is great, and it is, in the beginning. This vacuum will not last. We payed quite a lot of money and I expected to get more than 3 1/2 years out of it. Now, I am stuck going out and trying to find a machine without cheap plastic parts and cheap chinese motors. My only recommendation to you is to buy an extended warrenty. Kenmore has a 5 year warrenty, it is the only way I will ever buy another kenmore product.
