We have hardwood floors, a few area rugs and this little vacuum does a great job everywhere. Best of all, it's small, easy to work with and carry. I love the retractable cord and the metal tubing extends easily and is sturdy and well-made. Formerly owned the Dirt Devil Breeze and the (bagless) plastic dirt container recently broke - I was happy to move to this better designed vacuum that didn't require me to deal with the dirt. The bag and canister area seems small on this vacuum, but I haven't filled it even halfway after a couple of thorough passes through the whole house.
